Hello Decadent Darlings. Happy Monday! On this motivational Monday I wanted to write something that would not only tie into being motivational, but to also get you thinking. Quotes are a great aid in writing and they can also be inspiring. The one quote I want to talk about came from an astonishing woman. She helped shape society’s view of a woman for the better. She was the first lady of the United States whom pioneered speaking at events and in front of the press. Her opinion mattered and still does. She gracefully gave women a voice in politics and in everyday life. Anna Eleanor Roosevelt made the impossible, for women, possible and forever shaped standards for women. One quote from Ms. Roosevelt stands out in a significant way and still holds water. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” This quote resonates with me and I believe it can touch many people’s lives. This quote stands out because it inspires me to think about who I am as a person. I have the choice if I am going to let someone bother me. If someone tries to put you down in any way, it takes two people to do that: that person and yourself. You cannot control what other people do, but you can control how you react. If you let them do whatever they are doing, you do not have to give into anything they are talking about. Something is wrong with that one person if they try to put you down because good people do not go around bashing other people for their own pleasure. If they have the need and want to try and put other people down, it is their problem not yours. Be slow to anger because once you react, then they have the power to strike back. Do not give anyone anything that they do not deserve. They do not have power over you for a reason. No one deserves the power to put you down; keep the power to yourself and rise above it. You are your own powerhouse. You breathe and think for you. How much do you do things for yourself? If you want to do more for yourself, start with something small like telling yourself you are beautiful or eating healthy food. Your body is a temple so treat it like one. Take it day by day and as Ms. Roosevelt also said “with the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” Use your strengths and you will be the intelligent person you want to be. | Anna Eleanor Roosevelt October 11, 1884-November 7, 1962 |
