"Happiness can exist only in acceptance" -George Orwell
What is the true meaning of being happy? There is no simple way of answering that but you can just simply say "just be happy." A little while after my 22nd birthday, I met someone truly amazing. He brings out the best in me and makes me happy. He really did change my life, but I am not here to brag about him. I am here to talk about something amazing happening in my life that I did for myself: I changed my attitude. I am the happiest that I have ever been in my whole entire life because I enable that. I am here to share with all of you how I made it possible and how you can make it possible too.
There is no cookie cutter way to make yourself happy. Accepting that you are different than other people is the first step. No matter who you are, what you believe in, or what you look like I am letting you know you are strong, you are beautiful, and you are an original that no one can replace. Accept who you are as a person. You can make things happen for yourself. You are someone that is a 100% supporter of you. No one knows what you need more than you. Accept yourself and be proud of who you are.
There are many things wrong with the world. Yes we all have to live together, but that does not mean you have to let anyone impact your life. No one can make the world revolve around you but you can most definitely not allow the negativity impact your life. Think about it this way: you go to work or school and someone yells at you. Instead of getting worked up, you take a deep breath you deal with the situation calmly and you move on. People are more likely to not yell at you the next time when you deal with something calmly out of respect for yourself and others around you. You cannot control other people but you can control how you react. You will have more self respect when you react in a positive way. Reacting in a positive way is proving to yourself that you accept yourself and you respect who you are as a person.
Something else that you can do for yourself is to tell yourself you can do anything. That statement is very cliche, but if you look at it from a different angle it really is not. Who are the people that determines it is a cliche? People who like to tell other people they cannot do something. Once you realize that your purpose in life is to make yourself happy, no one can stop you. If you like putting on makeup to make yourself feel amazing and beautiful, do it. If you like to go to the gym because you feel strong and happy, go for it. Whatever your niche is, it is what makes you tick. You are confident with things that make you happy. We all do things in life that we do not want to do but if you balance your life out with things that you love to do, you will not only have something to look forward to but it also keeps you mentally healthy and overall you will feel more joy in your life.
These are a few of the ways that I have learned to love myself and be happy. I am not telling you that you need to do this to be happy in life, but these were the things that stuck out to me and helped me grow in so many ways. When I look at how I feel about myself now compared to how I felt about myself in the past it is like night and day. I used to be that girl that always believed she could do something memorable but never had the confidence to do anything. I was that girl that was extremely fit and always smiling to cover up on the inside how much I was hurting. So many times I had thought I hit rock bottom but it only got deeper and deeper. I would never wish the pain that I had on anyone else. I was numb to feelings and would get upset because I could not feel anything. In this past year I slowly started to change my life around. It was a struggle and it was not easy at first but then things started to get easier. I had cut some negative people out of my life and I kept the good ones in. My family has been a big help and I always have loved them but I love them on a whole other level now. My best friend, the guy I was talking about earlier, has been my biggest supporter of getting to love myself and be happy. I am not saying my happiness comes from him, but he has been the one that put that fire in my belly to love myself. I am so blessed to have him in my life because he helped me pull myself out of a dark place in my life and I can firmly say I love who I am. I am happy.
My challenge to all of you Decadent Darlings out there is to do this:
I am challenging all of you to do this because it will not only get you thinking of why you love yourself but hopefully it will motivate you to do more things that you love. Happiness does not happen overnight, but making life changing decisions do. Be yourself Decadent Darling, you deserve internal peace and happiness.

My challenge to all of you Decadent Darlings out there is to do this:
- Write down on a piece of paper three reasons why you love yourself.
- Write down on the same piece of paper three things that make you happy.
- I want you to think to yourself: what is it going to take from going from using the first three things to get to the second three things? If you are already at the second three things, what can you do to keep it going?
- Write down something small that you are going to do everyday that will make yourself happy or happier.
- For the next 21 days make it your personal goal to do that one thing that makes you happy.
I am challenging all of you to do this because it will not only get you thinking of why you love yourself but hopefully it will motivate you to do more things that you love. Happiness does not happen overnight, but making life changing decisions do. Be yourself Decadent Darling, you deserve internal peace and happiness.
